College Admission Planning – Don’t Wait for Junior Year
Too often families wait until well into the junior year of high school to begin the college planning process. Did you know that a little under 50% of students will graduate from the institution they first enrolled at? Or that students attending public colleges in MN transfer at the highest rate of any state in the country? Why? Poor planning, which in the long run costs you time and money. Waiting until the junior year of high school does not leave enough time to research, analyze and carefully consider which colleges will match a student in three important areas - academically, socially and financially.
Control the process; don't let the process control you. Designed for parents of students in grades 6th through 9th grade, you will learn:
· Why high school course selection can affect where a student will be admitted to college
· How and why grades and test scores matter in the college admissions process
· How to save on college tuition costs by strategically taking a rigorous high school curriculum
· Why it is important to set academic and extracurricular goals and how they can effect college admission
· The link between "Good Match" schools, retention and graduation.
· Financial Aid 101 - understanding the true costs of college
· Planning ahead when your child is young and more...
