Show me your Dragon F.I.R.E!

What is PBIS? Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, or PBIS, is a proactive approach to teaching behavior expectations and creating a positive social climate for a school. A school’s PBIS team helps set expectations, recognizes students and staff, and puts supports in place for ALL students to be successful.

At MSA, we treat each other with respect, take responsibility for our learning, and maintain a safe and positive school environment. We do this with Dragon F.I.R.E.!

PBIS in the Community

The PBIS team has teamed up with many different community partners to offer products or experiences for our students.  Examples include free movie tickets to Woodbury 10 theater or gift cards to Punch Pizza.  Please click here for more information regaring our community partners.

Incentives and Prizes

As part of PBIS, we recognize both students and staff for showing Dragon F.I.R.E. Some of the incentives are small, such as a $5 gift card to a restaurant. Others are larger and take the students more time to achieve. Last year, the entire middle school earned a popcorn and movie party after earning 450 F.I.R.E. slips in the month of February.

How to help?

Ways to help…

  • Donate $5 - $10 gift cards for local businesses for weekly or monthly drawings

Advisory Topics

In addition to teaching behavior expectations to students and recognizing them for their positive contributions to MSA, the PBIS team has also been tasked with developing lessons plans for the students social and emotional learning during advisory on Friday afternoons. Advisory teachers will be conducting 10-20 minute lessons aimed at helping students with skills such as organization, positive self talk, stress management, team building, technology skills, proper social media use, and many, many more.
